Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Techtonic Apprenticeship curriculum has been presented to the college accreditation board and we anticipate that our program will receive accreditation in the fall, 2019. Once approved, future cohorts will receive 39 college credits that are fully transferable within the Colorado community college system, once the apprenticeship is completed and certificates are granted.

  • We accept applicants with and without prior technical experience, but it certainly helps to have some technical skills. Regardless of your previous experience, every applicant is required to complete technical pre-work during the application process which helps us to select applicants. In short, a passion for Technology, hard work, critical thinking and problem solving will get you far.

  • No. Our Department of Labor standards require our apprentices to work onsite at our various apprenticeship locations throughout the apprenticeship program.

  • We do not. Accepted apprentices are required to source their own housing.

  • No! We have accepted applicants from many different states and countries around the world. However, all applicants must be legally eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship prior to joining Techtonic.

If you are out of state, you should apply as early as possible so you can plan accordingly if accepted.

  • Our apprenticeship program is the evolution of the bootcamp. The Techtonic Apprenticeship will train you on the technical and professional skills required to become a software developer. Your apprenticeship begins with intense full-time classroom training followed by hands-on experience coding on real client projects where you are mentored and coached by our team of senior software developers.

  • Typically the selection process can take up to 4 weeks. If you’re interested in pursuing a career in software development, you should apply as soon as possible. The earlier you apply, the greater your chances are to be accepted into our next class.

  • That depends on the person, their commitment, and the workload. If you complete the apprenticeship you’ll receive a Department of Labor issued apprenticeship Certificate of Completion. Some apprentices then get hired directly by our clients, while others become part of the Techtonic team or move on to other opportunities.

  • Can you think critically? Do you like solving problems? Can you learn fast and still be ok receiving criticism when you’re wrong? Each apprentice will work on our clients’ software projects and you’ll be paired up with our teams of mid- and senior-level developers and engineers to work on those jobs.

  • Yes! Our application process is rigorous and we want the best of the best. But that also means we’re invested in your success. We pay our apprentices above minimum wage while they’re learning and working on our clients’ projects. There are also opportunities for raises depending on each person's effort, production and dedication to developing software. It’s a full-time job requiring your full-time attention.

  • We receive a lot of applicants for a limited number of spots, so applying is just the first step. On average, we receive 250 - 300 applications for every 20-person cohort. Our in-depth application process requires a substantial amount of work on your part, so get ready to show us that you have what it takes to succeed!
